Leave of Absence

Prerequisite?

Students can submit the application for a maximum of two semesters for one of the following reasons. Reasons for leave:

  1. Performance of a presence or civil service (submission of the convocation decision)
  2. Pregnancy (mother-child passport)
  3. Care of own children (presentation of birth certificate)
  4. Other serious reasons (e.g.: occupation, family reasons, graduation phase, illness, etc.) The reasoning must at least be made credible by the student or students.

How is the application made?

The application for leave of absence must be submitted in writing to the study service before the corresponding semester for which the leave is applied for. 

Students can submit the application for a maximum of two semesters for one of the following reasons.

Reasons:

  1. Performance of a presence or civil service (submission of the convocation decision)
  2. Pregnancy (mother-child passport)
  3. Care of own children (presentation of birth certificate)
  4. Other serious reasons (e.g.: occupation, family reasons, graduation phase, illness, etc.) The reasoning must at least be made credible by the student or students.

During leave of absence, admission to study is maintained, but participation in courses, examinations and the submission of assessments of scientific work are not permitted.

 

Deadlines:

Winter semester: 30.09

Summer semester: 28.02

Important

During leave:

  • ÖH contribution must continue to be paid
  • no exams, excursions, exercises, seminars, etc.
  • no student status
  • no receipt of family allowance, study allowance, ...
  • no student self-insurance
  • no student Vienna lines ticket, etc.

Furthermore, a leave of absence does not protect against the expiry of a curriculum!
