Ways to an UN agreement - Behind the scenes of negotiations on the environment
Have you always wanted to know what a United Nations conference on the environment looks like?
Have you wondered what it is like to be part of the negotiations, defending the interests of a country and debating for days to try to come to a resolution that will make a change in the
world? And do you love good, insightful films?
Then join us on June 18th at 6:30 p.m. at lecture hall 1 in Guttenberghaus, because 10 BOKU-students participated in the simulation of exactly such a conference in April 2018.
During MUNESD, or Model United Nations on Environment and Sustainable Development, which took place at the United Nations here in Vienna, we discussed issues ranging from food security to pollution, water and soils, and it was a blast – thus, we want to share the experience of such a conference with you.
We will first be screening Guardians of the Earth (in English, with English subtitles), a documentary film by Polish filmmaker Filip Antoni Malinowski about the historic COP21 Climate Change Negotiations in Paris of 2015.
You will find out about the battle towards the Paris Agreement and what happened behind closed doors. After the film, we will talk about our experiences at MUNESD and how they relate to what you saw in the film. We will be open to all of your questions
